MOTHER ARRESTED FOR SELLING HER CHILD ONLINE IN NORTHERN SAMAR
CATRMAN NORTHERN SAMAR/JUNE 2, 2024--Cops rescued two minors, file raps against arrested mother for selling her child online on June 2. Based on the Police report, the suspect, who is 23 years old and a resident of Brgy. Laoangan, San Roque town, and the mother of the rescued minor victims were arranging transactions online through Facebook, offering to sell her two-month-old baby in exchange for cash amounting to 60K.
The Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) personnel pretended to be interested in buying the child offered by the suspect online.
The WCPC, together with the Women and Children Protection Desk of Police Regional Office 8, Catarman Municipal Police Station, in coordination with DOJ RATFF 8, and the Catarman Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, launched the operation at the agreed meeting place in Catarman, Northern Samar.
After completing the transaction, the suspect was successfully arrested, and the victim was rescued the other two-year-old during an entrapment and rescue operation. The arrested suspect was immediately brought to Catarman MPS for proper disposition, while the victims were turned over to Catarman MSWDO.
A case for violation of Sections 4 of R.A 9208 as amended by R.A 11862 also known as the "Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022" in relation to R.A 7610 was filed against the suspect.#
