Catarman Northern Samar – The Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Northern Samar have intensified their collaborative efforts to ensure the safety and security of students across the province.
The NSPPO and the DepEd Northern Samar held a consultative conference to enhance school safety and security. Led by PCOL GEORGE B BUYACAO JR, the meeting on August 4, 2026, at the NSPPO Multi-Purpose Hall, focused on strengthening collaboration and inter-agency coordination for safe, secure, and learner-friendly school environments.
PLTCOL HARRIS P REBATO presented NSPPO's initiatives like Project GABAY, which promotes crime prevention, anti-drug campaigns, anti-bullying, and online safety. Mr. Andrew S. Montejo from DepEd discussed policies for school coordination and visitations.
An open forum, moderated by PMAJ MAE ANN F ERIVERA, allowed participants to discuss concerns and share best practices. Dr. Gaudencio C Aljibe Jr (DepEd) and COL ERICKSON V ROSANA (Philippine Army) emphasized the importance of strong partnerships. PCOL BUYACAO reiterated that student safety is a shared responsibility, aiming for protected and empowered learners through continued collaboration.
Attendees included NSPPO Command Group, 24 Chiefs of Police, School Heads, and 46 District Supervisors are brought togethernfrom both agencies to discuss strategies, reinforce inter-agency coordination, and foster a safer learning environment for all which all committed to maintaining safe educational institutions.
